Advocacy Campaign Officer

We Effect, the world’s largest cooperative development organisation, is now recruiting a Campaign officer to lead, develop and coordinate our advocacy campaigns.

The campaign officer will play an instrumental part in building public and political support for the right to food in Sweden, EU and globally. Our cooperative member organisations are allies in this work.

As the project lead for our Sida funded communications and advocacy projects, you will oversee the development of campaigns material and an ambassador programme for creating more sustainable food systems.

Travelling to countries where We Effect work is also part of the job.

The position is part of the Media and Advocacy Department in Stockholm. The employment is a permanent position with a six months’ probation period. Start date as soon as possible.

 

Main responsibilities

  • Develop, lead and evaluate advocacy campaigns in Sweden and globally.
  • Be the lead officer for the Communication programme funded by Sida, including budget and procurements.
  • Be in charge of campaign plans, materials and projects, including digital field visits, and podcasts.

You’re a results-oriented optimist that gets the job done, in partnership with other passionate colleagues. You know the ins and outs of political processes and understand how to develop campaigns in that context.

You share our values, are committed to political change, and understand what role international development cooperation can play in that process. You need to understand the logic of civil society organisations and have an interest in the cooperative business. The role comes with high personal responsibility.

Required qualifications

Degree from relevant academic education, such as communications
A minimum of three years of relevant work life experience
Fluent in English and fluent or working knowledge of Swedish
Planning and Communications skills, including project management, writing and media content production

Merits

  • Experience from a political party, public affairs agency or a civil society organisation
  • Experience in tools for producing digital content for campaigning
  • Knowledge of food systems, gender equality and climate change
  • Experience of international development cooperation
  • Experience of policy and advocacy work at Swedish, EU or global level
