Meet Rachael Mwikali, Kenyan feminist activist and winner of the Lobbyist for Change award

Welcome to a one hour power session in Oprah Winfrey-style
14th of June at 12:00-13:00

We Effect, Franzéngatan 6, Stockholm

Who is Rachael Mwikali? You know, the activist who stood on stage at the Stockholm Gender Forum, raised her fist and got the auditorium to chant “Power to the Women”. This grassroots activist, born and raised in the informal settlement of Mathare Nairobi, conveyed her message without hesitation next to the Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs, a Nobel prize winner and an executive at UN Women. Now we are given the opportunity to get a full hour power injection with the 26 year old Kenyan feminist, touching on:

  • Shrinking civic space in Kenya – how does it affect activists and the society at large?
  • Being a female feminist activist – what strategies are there to get a patriarchal society to listen?
  • Key lessons from organizing grassroots in informal settlements

Speaker: Rachael Mwikali Mueni, leader of the Coalition for Grassroots Human Rights Defenders

Moderator: Anna Kakuli, Communications Officer, We Effect

Lunch: We will serve a vegan wrap. Kindly indicate any allergies when signing up for the seminar.

Sign up by latest 10 June: https://sv.surveymonkey.com/r/RachaelMwikali
